Wipe Dispenser

Design Bugs Out

This simple clip-on dispenser provides patients with easy access to detergent-based cleaning wipes at the bedside.

The problem

Currently, detergent-based cleaning wipes are not provided for individual patient use. Hand wipes and gels are not always in a convenient reachable position for patients in bed to use.

The solution

Empowering patients by providing easy access to a supply of cleaning wipes means they don’t have to ask nursing staff every time they want to clean their hands.

How it works

  • The one-piece injection-moulded dispenser has an integral clip that can be attached to bedside tables, cabinets and bed rails.

  • Once a patient has finished with their personal supply of wipes the plastic dispenser can be recycled.

Designing the Wipe Dispenser

  • Initial concept generation identified different kinds of clips and hooks.
  • A Research Associate demonstrates a prototype dispenser clip.
