About the Design Council

Since the Design Council and CABE have merged we have set out our plans for delivering design support and advice to industry, communities, central and local government.

As well as designers and project managers, our team includes financial experts, marketeers and lobbyists. We recruit brilliant people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Find out more about the team

Putting design at the heart of the economy and public services means working with government departments and other agencies, and with business. It also means working with leading experts in design management, and of course with designers themselves.

The Design Council started life in 1944 as the Council of Industrial Design. Over more than 60 years Britain has seen massive social, economic and technological change. We've changed too, though we've always fought to make design central to Britain's well being.
