Hire charges

The Design Council makes a nominal hire charge to cover the administration, set up, equipment and services for your event.

The rate is dependant on what room you have and is available either as a full day or half day (any 5 hours between 8:30am and 6:00pm). An evening event is charged at the full day rate.

Presentation area

  • 1/2 day £650
  • Full day £750

Conference room

  • 1/2 day £500
  • Full day £550

The venue is open Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) from 8:30am to 8:30pm. If you need access to the building outside these core hours, an additional charge will be levied.

Out of hours rate: £40.00 per hour.

If you would like to hold your event at the Design Council, please email events@designcouncil.org.uk with the following information.

  • Company/organisation name
  • Contact name and number
  • Event date
  • Event audience (eg, public, designers or internal)
  • Company/organisation biog
  • Company/organisation website
  • Any other relevant information

Once availability has been confirmed, we will send you a checklist for you to confirm your specific requirements.

Terms and conditions

  1. Event checklist must be completed, signed, and returned 3 weeks in advance.
  2. The deposit (of the room hire charge) must be received no later than 2 weeks in advance.
    Failure to pay the deposit may result in cancellation.
    The non refundable deposit will be deducted from your final invoice.
  3. All invoices are due for payment within 28 days of receipt.
  4. All prices quoted are exclusive of VAT. We reserve the right to change our prices at any time.
  5. All changes to numbers of attendees, or amendments to your requirements can only be accepted 1 week prior to your event.
  6. In the event of cancellation, at least 2 weeks notice should be given. Failure to do so will result in charges being incurred in full.
  7. Event organisers must appreciate that the Design Council is a busy working environment and care must be taken to ensure all activities are undertaken with minimum disruption to Design Council staff.
  8. The Design Council has the right to co-brand any activities held at our premises. We therefore ask that you agree to the branding conditions as stated in our Venue Pack.
