Case study: The Atlantic Hotel

Getting a great website: a step by step guide

Exterior of the Atlantic HotelThe Atlantic Hotel in Jersey is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH). It has won awards for its food, accommodation and service and felt it needed to create a website that matched its reputation for quality.

Managing director Patrick Burke says its appointed web design agency, Fortune Cookie, provided it with a detailed proposal of the project’s process from start to finish.

The key tasks agreed for the website included:

  • Develop a website that reflects the brand positioning of the hotel
  • Promote online reservations
  • Use the Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) internet booking engine
  • Ensure that the site is optimised for search engines
  • Allow staff to independently update certain sections, including restaurant menus and offers
  • Allow for prominent sections for the Michelin-starred Ocean Restaurant
  • Display high-quality photos

‘The proposal gave us certainty in terms of cost, which was agreed in advance, and timescales as it was important to the business that the new website be launched in time for the coming season,’ says Burke who thinks the agency has done a ‘fantastic’ job.
