The RED team’s energy project was intended to provoke responses and throw out ideas to encourage the energy sector and householders to think in new ways. Out of the insights and ideas generated has come a new project. Working in conjunction with the London borough of Lewisham, the Mayor of London’s office and the concierge company Ten UK, former members of the RED energy team are prototyping a ‘green homes’ service where 5000 householders in Lewisham will be visited by an energy expert who will help them become more energy efficient.
‘The idea has been informed by the RED energy project. It’s all about making it easier to make your home more energy efficient but also working with householders to see what they want and understanding their motivations - is it about saving the planet or saving money or simply making their homes more comfortable to live in?’ says Chris Vanstone of the RED energy team.
‘Once we have identified what they want – perhaps solar panels on their roofs – then Ten UK will identify the best suppliers and contractors.’
