Greengaged at the Design Council is a programme of sustainability events, debates, workshops, exhibitions, seminars and masterclasses that will run during the London Design Festival 2008.

Hosted by the Design Council in our Covent Garden headquarters, greengaged has been organised by [re]design and thomas.matthews in association with Arup, Kingston University and Three Trees Don’t Make A Forest.

greenaged orgainsers Sophie Thomas, Anne Chick, and David KesterIt will bring together design disciplines from product design to graphics, service design to fashion to focus on sustainability issues, exchange ideas and learn from some of the most forward-thinking designers and innovators in their fields.

Speakers will include:

  • Nic Marks, New Economic Foundation
  • Chris Luebkeman, ARUP Foresight and Innovation
  • Daniel Epstein, Olympic Delivery Authority
  • Dr Kate Fletcher, London College of Fashion
  • Rob Holdway, Giraffe Innovation and presenter of Channel 4’s DUMPED
  • John Wood, Attainable Utopias
  • John Grant, founder of St Luke’s agency and author of The Green Marketing Manifesto.

 

Running weekdays during the festival, greengaged highlights will include:

  • hot topic debates – on greenwash and green marketing
  • practical workshops and surgeries – greening your studio, sustainable print and paper 
  • seminars and masterclasses – with experts from environmental and design fields 
  • designers coming face to face with their waste on a landfill barge journey up the Thames
  • consultations with designers about what help they need to raise professional standards in sustainable design
  • interactive exhibitions and installations
  • the collective creation of a new ‘manifesto for sustainable design’
