Building for Life is the national standard for well-designed homes and neighbourhoods.
Good quality housing design can improve social wellbeing and quality of life by creating homes and places that function well and are attractive. Building for Life promotes design excellence and celebrates best practice in the house-building industry.
Building for Life is run by a partnership of Design Council Cabe, the Home Builders Federation and Design for Homes. As part of Cabe's merger with the Design Council, we have been working hard with our partners to decide how to run Building for Life in the future, including the process for submitting completed Building for Life assessments. We are very aware that Building for Life has a huge amount of support from local authorities, home builders, developers and design professionals who care about good design.
