Since his work on the Aston Martin DB7, Ian Callum has been acknowledged as one of the world's foremost automotive designers.
Now design director at Jaguar, Ian was born in Dumfries, Scotland. A course in industrial design at Glasgow School of Art preceded a two-year course in automobile design at the Royal College of Art.
Recruited straight from college by Ford Motor Company, he spent 12 years in the company's design studios across the world working on the Fiesta, Mondeo, Ford RS200 mid-engined sports car and the Escort RS Cosworth.
Following a spell as design manager at the Ghia Design Studio in Turin, he returned to the UK to join TWR Group as chief designer. It was here that he revived Aston Martin’s famous DB series with the DB7 as well as creating the Vanquish and DB9.
Ian joined Jaguar in 1999 and is responsible for leading the design teams in the latest XK line as well as re-establishing Jaguar's sports saloon credentials with the XF and subsequently the all new XJ. He was also instrumental in creating the R-Coupe and RD-6 concept cars, as well as Jaguar's latest creation, the C-X75.
