Step Up is a website that helps young people to identify their career ambition and to connect with those that can help them achieve it.
Young people often find it difficult to decide what they want to do for a living. They also find it hard to ask for the support they need to achieve their goals.
Develop a website that supports young people to define and express what their career goals are, and what kind of support they need to fulfil them. To then give young people the confidence and ability to approach the right people in asking for advice and support.
How Step Up meets the challenge
The Step Up website guides young people through a series of steps that help them to define their career goals and then to identify the support they need to achieve them. Everyone then creates a personal marketing campaign that is hosted online for 21 days. During this time they are encouraged to strengthen their support network, become known for their capabilities, uncover new skills and ultimately get the support they need to take the next step in their career.
Step Up creates new opportunities by giving young people the means and confidence to ask for help, while showing potential employers how determined and focused a young person is.
Meet the team behind Step Up
Step Up is designed and run by a team spun off from design, innovation and communications agency; The House.
What is the future for Step Up?
By the end of 2013 we plan to have had 500 successful campaigns and be showing the impact of the campaigns on those taking part. We want to partner with youth organisations and schools to create a support network all young people can use to develop themselves and find a job.
We're looking for organisations that provide career guidance and advice to young people, and would like to use Step Up as part of their offer. We are also looking for financial support that will allow Step Up to grow its team, market the service to customers, and develop the website.
