South East England is a water stressed area. It has less water available per person than Sudan and Syria. As summers are becoming hotter and drier and our population is increasing, water utility companies are looking for new ways to help their customers reduce the amount of water they use.
Southern Water knows that installing water meters isn’t enough to reduce water consumption. Customers need to change their behaviour by doing things like have shorter showers, using harvested rain water instead of a hose pipe connected to the mains to water the garden or taking advantage of water saving devices.
Bill re-design
All customers regularly receive a printed water bill, an important opportunity for Southern Water to tell them how they can better manage their water consumption. Designer Boag Associates has created a new bill that quickly shows whether the amount of water used is more or less than last year, what it will cost the customer and how they can save water in the future.
