Independence Matters

Independence Matters is a joint collaboration between the Technology Strategy Board and Design Council to support the development of great consumer services for later life.

Through the programme we've funded seven start up enterprises who have used design-led approaches to develop innovative services that help older adults live well and stay independent. Find out more about the three different programmes of work, including a design challenge for secondary schools and the two business challenges: Keeping Connected and Home & Away, or download the booklet (please note it is 4MB).

About the Programme

We asked teams of designers, industry partners, service providers and third-sector organisations to propose how they would tackle problems associated with mobility and nutrition, in people aged 65-plus.
