David’s career covers international design practice and design management both for business and national organisations. David also currently works as an academic involved in research and teaching development.

As a product designer he led a research focused, user-centred, multi award-winning practice working with clients and partners worldwide, was creative head of a Hong Kong based housewares group and a founding director of Europe’s leading toy design business. His design clients include Unilever, Fisher Price, Xerox, JCB, Tomy, Wellcome Foundation and Ideal Standard.

As a Design Associate David has worked with businesses of all scales as well as with universities to help accelerate the commercialisation of research, notably with Sheffield Hallam, Lancaster and Liverpool University Nuclear Physics Group.

David is a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Arts and the Higher Education Academy, as well as a Member of the Design Management Institute. He is also the Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor of Sustainable Design at the University of Leeds.
