Carmel is a highly experienced editor and award-winning journalist who spent 15 years in print and online publishing before embarking on a successful retail career, holding company director positions at both Heals and The Conran Shop. She has worked at the Financial Times, Condé Nast, Time Warner Inc., InStyle and as Editor of the lifestyle interiors magazine Living.
In 2004 she launched the charity, Kiss It Better for children with cancer, in conjunction with Great Ormond Street Hospital and Estée Lauder Companies. It has raised over £2m in funds and annually achieves in excess of £28m worth of press coverage. As Marketing Communications Director of Heals she was also responsible for the company’s bicentenary celebrations and edited the book, Heals 200 Years of Design and Inspiration, which was highly commended by Creative Review.
Before joining GDR Creative Intelligence she was Creative & Marketing Director of The Conran Shop.
