Laura Malan

Areas of Expertise

She is experienced in researching and designing services, digital products, communications, strategies and experiences all as part of projects with wider positive social impact.

She draws on a combination of design research, service design and visual communication to help groups and organisations find creative solutions or communicate their ideas in simple and engaging ways. She often works as a facilitator, coaching or working with teams to enable them to find creative solutions for their own work.

She has led on the design and implementation of projects for a range charities, government departments, startups and organisations including: Policy Lab, Department of Health, Health Foundation, Local Government Association, Barnardos Children’s Charity, Sport England, European Commission, Usborne Foundation and the African Centre for Cities on topics ranging from health and inequalities, mental health and wellbeing, food insecurity, future of cities, children & young people, policing, employment, and arts & heritage. She has a degree in Graphic Design and a Master's degree in Service Design.

Alongside working with Design Council, she works as an independent designer, is co-founder of studio and collective AndGood, is an associate at various design agencies and organisations, and is part of Cityscapes, a collective aiming to amplify ideas on the future of cities from a global South perspective.
