Sean Miller
Sean is a senior service designer with over 20 years of experience in creating and improving services across various sectors, including government, non-departmental public bodies, charities, start-ups, SMEs, and global organizations. He leads his own consulting practice and is committed to advancing inclusive design by making human-centered methods accessible to everyone, regardless of background, role, or skill level.
Sean began his career as a project engineer and then as a management consultant. He has worked in diverse industries, such as pulp and paper factories in Norway and automotive manufacturing plants in Sweden, where he focused on process improvement and organizational change. Sean has been a key contributor to the Design Council's innovative programs, including Transform Ageing, a pioneering program taking a community and design-led approach to improve people's experience of aging; Spark, a design accelerator competition to support inventors in prototyping, testing ideas, developing business plans, and taking products to market; and Design in the Public Sector, which equips councils with design skills and methods to apply to their toughest challenges.
Sean is currently a member of the Innovate UK Net Zero Businesses Support Programme coaching team, helping early-stage growth businesses conduct research, test, and improve net zero products and services to meet market demand. Sean enjoys designing and selling his sketches on sustainable t-shirts.
