Audio: What does ageing mean to you?

Audio: What does ageing mean to you?

30 May 2017

What's the first word you think of when you hear the word 'ageing'? What would have the most impact on your life as you age? These are just two of the questions that we asked those who came along to our Transform Ageing events in the south-west of England at the end of May. From associations with 'health', 'time' and 'freedom' to 'fears of isolation' along with the celebration of being able to 'say exactly what you think', the responses are all heartfelt, surprising, honest and amusing. Have a listen.

Background

In the last week of April we invited local communities across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall to the launch of our Transform Ageing programme.  The aim of the launch was to introduce the programme which brings together people in later life with social entrepreneurs and health and social care leaders and puts them at the centre of a process to inspire new solutions, products and services that better meet the needs of our ageing communities.  We explored the challenges people in later life are experiencing, provided information about our programme partners and encouraged people to participate in the programme.
