Design Council Cabe is pleased to announce the provision of Design Review and advice for a transformational mixed-use Irfan urban development masterplan in the Sultanate of Oman. The masterplan is being developed by a multi-disciplinary team led by architects Allies and Morrison, who were successfully appointed through an International RIBA competition.

Alfredo Caraballo, Director at Allies and Morrison, says: We are delighted to have Cabe on board for this exciting and challenging project.  We have worked with them on some of the most important masterplans in London, including the London 2012 Olympics, Kings Cross, Brent Cross and Cricklewood.”

“Cabe’s extensive experience in complex urban projects informs a considered criticism which we are confident will enrich our proposals. Large urban developments are, by their nature, the work of many hands and their design benefits equally from a range of voices.”

Our client’s interest in Cabe’s contribution is a testament to their aspirations for Irfan.

Saif Ali Al Hinai, Head of Irfan Project at Omran, says: “[we]…were keen to draw upon international best practice and recognised that the design review process developed by Cabe, coupled with the breadth of expertise provided by the panel of advisors, would add value to the project and ensure design quality [for] a strategically important project within the Muscat Capital Area.

“We feel confident that Cabe's engagement will provide us with impartial, expert advice which will help us make better decisions and that the process will also save time and cost while helping to realise the aspirations of the brief.”

Design Council Cabe has delivered over 3,500 Design Reviews over the last 16 years. As such, its Design Review expertise is internationally recognised. Design Council Cabe has licensed its services to South Australia and provides insight and advice to cities and countries.

Collaboration will allow Cabe to bring together best-practice, local and international knowledge and expertise, to create an exemplar 21st century urban extension to Muscat.
