Design Council brings together communities across UK to think innovatively about affordable, green and healthy homes of the future
Communities across the UK are being invited to share their views on how we can design and build affordable, green and healthy homes of the future, thanks to a series of creative and interactive workshops hosted by Design Council. The first of these events takes place in Birmingham on 19th November. The other dates are Oxford, 2nd December, Bristol, 5th December and Manchester, 10th December.
These special events form part of the Home of 2030 initiative, run by a consortium led by BRE, with partners Design Council and MOBIE, to develop practical and scalable ideas for future homes which are suitable for all ages and are environmentally sustainable over their entire lifespan.
Led by design experts, the three-hour workshops will encourage local people to think innovatively about the homes that they, their friends and their family might want and need in the future. Participants will consider how we can raise the quality of housing design and address the gap in the market for affordable housing that is more energy efficient and adaptable to people’s needs over their lifetimes. Together, they will be challenged to develop their shared vision of the Home of 2030.
