In the UK, understanding of design is often limited to aesthetic considerations and this is reflected in the way the design sector is measured in national datasets. Design is underused by businesses and undervalued by government, but we know it can make a significant contribution to a changing UK.

Our research provides evidence on the impact and value of design. We explore design’s role in economic development, tackling societal challenges and delivering inclusive places, to advance the understanding and use of design across the UK.
