Rachel Bronstein
Programme Lead, Skills
Rachel is the Programme Lead for Skills at the Design Council, which currently involves managing our Skills for Planet movement, an initiative that aims to upskill 1 million designers with critical green skills by 2030. She built the foundations for the Skills programme, which included co-creating the Skills for Planet Blueprint with over 100 design leaders and partnering with several organisations across the design pipeline, from education to industry. She continues to lead the development and delivery of our Skills offer, translating theory into action by piloting different upskilling approaches, as well as partnering with design educators in schools and universities, design leaders and designers themselves to amplify the movement.
Having worked across the private, public and third sectors, Rachel brings a multidisciplinary background to her programme leadership at the Design Council. As a consultant, she gained breadth across service, experience and systems-led design, working on projects ranging from designing export support services with the Department for International Trade post-Brexit, to redefining the British Business Bank’s employee value experience and transforming AVON’s customer experience.
Rachel has completed On Purpose, a year-long social leadership programme that supports professionals to apply their skills in purpose-led organisations. Through this programme she developed a strong foundation in systems thinking, measuring impact, movement-building and values-led leadership. She brings this learning into her work by leading programmes with a deep awareness of people, power and impact, and a commitment to creating change at scale.
