Sue Morgan
Sue is Director Around the Block and The Common Dispatch, working at the interface of the built and natural environment.
Sue has over 40 years’ experience supporting regenerative, resilient, and equitable cities, that places landscape and nature at the heart, with a specific focus on systemic governance change and long-term stewardship mechanisms. She holds a BA Hons Theatre Design, BA Hons Landscape Architecture, Dip Hons Landscape Architecture, has a PGCE further education and is an RSA Fellow. She has been the CEO of the Landscape Institute, Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust, and Design Council.
She also worked at Design Council, where she oversaw the expansion and growth of a diverse portfolio of projects and programmes – first as Director of Architecture and the Built Environment, and finally as Interim CEO, including the delivery of the National Design Guide, High Streets Task Force, Home of 2030, and work with major infrastructure clients such as Network Rail and Highways England.
Sue was the founder of the Bankside Open Spaces Trust and her own consultancy Around the Block Ltd and has held senior positions with London local authorities, Groundwork London, Better Bankside (BID), Building Services Research Information Association (BSRIA), and a number of London Urban Study Centres. She was also one of the last Garden apprentices for the GLC working on woodland restoration at Abbey Wood.
A Landscape Architect and lecturer by training, Sue is now working on a portfolio of interest, as a mentor and advisor, director of Around the Block and The Common Dispatch, Fellow of Royal Society for Arts, Design Council Ambassador, Kloster Forum participant, active member of Royal Parks Guild and supporter for Thornton Education Trust.
Notable consultancy work includes award winning restoration of the celebrated brutalist Grade2* listed Alexandra and Ainsworth Park landscape in Camden and Landscape Institute, RTPI and Horticulture Week awards for work in the Wandle Valley Regional Park.
