Alisha is committed to ‘designing equity in cities of the future’. A Design Council Expert, Green Builder, Entrepreneur, Design Review Panel member for Croydon and Lewisham; Alisha founded Black Females in Architecture (BFA) in 2017 and Migrant’s Bureau in 2019.

Over the last 9 years, Alisha has been creating businesses, networks, placemaking initiatives and designing projects for communities in architecture, construction, landscape and the wider built environment. Her work in African urbanism commenced in 2016, where she travelled to multiple African cities over a 6-month period exploring who was responding to the needs of climate mitigation whilst grappling with the decolonial impacts surrounding African architecture and urbanism. The research project ultimately birthed her network, Black Females in Architecture, as she couldn’t find many black women advancing and thriving in the built environment on the continent. She came back to the UK with a mission to support, provide opportunities and guide a new community.

Alisha is a prominent figure who has supported the advancement of career trajectories in the built environment. This includes her first network, the Young Architect’s Network in 2017 (for both students in the UK and internationally) and BFA in late 2017. She is currently building SIS INNOVATES, to improve the lives of Black women so they can design their own wellness and environmental futures. She continues her focus on community-led design and the future of green building projects.

Within Migrant’s Bureau she is a Principal Project Manager, delivering successful projects with emerging technology for immigrant & migrant communities. In the past, Alisha developed her first podcast, A is for Morenike, spotlighting brave, audacious and powerful women surrounding wellness and innovation, whilst celebrating womanhood. She is looking forward to bringing out new seasons in 2027.
