Nikki Van Grimbergen
Programme Manager (Place)
Nikki is Programme Manager at the Design Council, running projects within the Place portfolio.
Nikki has an extensive experience delivering projects within the built environment with a particular focus on placemaking and community engagement. She was a part of strategic studio 'The Place Bureau' where she co-delivered the place vision for Silvertown Quays Development. She went on to work for Meanwhile Space CIC, developing and delivering innovative meanwhile use projects to unlock underused space for the benefit of community, placemaking and enterprise. During her time there, she built an expertise in high street activation and led various programmes in collaboration with central and local government. Prior to joining the Design Council, Nikki worked at Soundings delivering engagement strategies to empower communities to share their thoughts and shape future developments in their area.
With a Master’s degree in Narrative Environments, she has a keen interest in the role of narrative to develop more inspiring and engaging places.
Nikki spends her time outside of work exploring new places to eat, growing flowers or making pots.
