take 5: Witherford Watson Mann Architects

take 5: Witherford Watson Mann Architects

16 April 2014

Overview

take 5

Join us here at Design Council for the third of our new series of take 5 talks with designers. These happen on the last Thursday of every month.

5 insights, 5 questions, 5 pounds

The take 5 format is simple. We invite a designer to share five insights (spending about five minutes on each one). Then we open up to the floor for five questions. And tickets cost just £5 (including a free drink).

Witherford Watson Mann

On the eve of the London Festival of Architecture, May's take 5 will dive into the world of buildings and places, with two thirds of the team that founded Witherford Watson Mann Architects.

Winners of the Stirling Prize in 2013 for a project that literally sounds like a dream (a house built in the midst of a ruined castle), Witherford Watson Mann Architects is a small practice but a significant name in 21st century British architecture.

Astley Castle, Warwickshire

We love the fact that this award-winning partnership emerged after some early morning walks through neglected parts of London, and admire their civic commitment to the spaces in between buildings and what these mean to people.
