Home of 2030
Home of 2030 was a national design and delivery competition led by The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). The aim was to encourage home designs that will address a variety of challenges facing society in the future. In order to design a competition brief that was relevant to communities across England, Design Council was brought in to establish the core principles upon which the competition brief could be built.
How we delivered
We led a series of workshops with 300 community groups and SMEs and conducted a survey of more than 2,000 people across England. The findings were published in A Public Vision for the Home of 2030. It provided insight into the range of aspirations that people have for their future homes. The report captured people's needs and preferences and how they differ across the country. It also set out 20 principles for the home of the future, which informed the competition brief.
The winners of the Home of 2030 competition - Home and Connector Housing - were announced in late 2020.
