Meaghan Kombol

For the last two decades Meaghan has practised landscape architecture in the public and private sector.

Meaghan has worked with celebrated designers such as Martha Schwartz and Kathryn Gustafson, with whom she delivered the celebrated ‘Towards Paradise’ garden at the 2008 Venice Architecture Biennale. In 2018 Meaghan joined the public sector, employed with Croydon Council with the focus of delivering sustainable green/blue environmental amenity through developments and policy writing.

As adjunct professor at the University of Greenwich, Meaghan has taught landscape architecture to graduate and undergraduate students over the last decade, focusing on community-based design and the creation of sustainable landscape-led architectural practice.

Meaghan’s knowledge of sustainable green infrastructure, community co-design processes and climate change mitigation and adaptation measures has been recognised through her invitations to give talks to government planning teams and universities, as well as in her appointment as an Associate at the Design Council and Urban Design London’s Environmental Design Review Panel.

In addition to practising and teaching landscape architecture in as a Chartered Landscape Architect, Meaghan has written numerous articles for the Landscape Institute Journal on themes of sustainable green delivery, and her book, 30:30 Landscape Architecture was published by Phaidon Press in 2015.

Meaghan will be joining the DfE as Sustainability Design Advisor for GI in April 2022.
